it looks to me like jenny's feet were on the same line the whole time - until she went down

she did tangle arms with rowbury - but that was because rowbury came up on her-

I don't think jenny moved over at all

that's racing - sometimes you squueze by on the rail, sometimes you don't. If jenny had pinched rowbury off it would be a different story

I agree 100%. There is other video from head on and you can see that they were pretty far apart from one another (for being in the same lane that is). Jenny definitely did not squeeze Shannon.

I got the reference, just not sure why it was it was deemed necessary to reference it in the title. It'd be like changing the title to Jenny Simpson just ROBBED that win from Rowbury!!! (Jenny pulls a Christian Smith at the line).

Great, the reference makes sense but it'd be a weird decision to change the title when it really doesn't clarify anything, the original title stood alone just fine. Again, I don't find it incredibly classless but I'm just not sure it was a necessary change which is why I was curious about the reasoning behind it.

Simpson did not cut in on her, but you can see at 5:57 that her left arm goes wide (maybe to keep her balance) and impedes Rowbury's right arm from going forward, and it causes both of them to fall. Nevertheless, I don't think this is a DQ (anyone who thinks Rowbury is responsible after watching the video above needs to have either his/her eyes or head checked). Two ladies fighting for the line. End of story.

Now that's a close finish. Wonder what the time was to the thousandths?

on Twitter Rowbury appears to be trying to gather evidence so she can have Jenny DQ'd. The Salazar effect rubs off quickly on his athletes

but as you've been cowering behind other people's backs for the whole race you've just got to suck it up and move out wide, you can't expect to be able to go on the inside with no problems arising

I agree. Jenny panicked and threw her arm out, but it was in the midst of battle, so no big deal. Rowbury gets 2nd. If Rowbury would have moved to Lane 3 at the top of the turn, she would have won.

But as has been pointed out, Shannon was guilty of an even more egregious example of this at the USA 5000m vs Huddle. If she is mad about not having room to pass on the inside, then she should hate herself for coming inside and then back outside against Huddle.

You are right that there is no question on who should have won the race. The first person across the line, Jenny Simpson.

The contact was minimal and did not impede or cause Shannon to fall.

If she takes to Twitter to complain about that I have no respect for her whatsoever.

They are actually both really great girls. They both have awesome coaches, of which one is a tough mofo that is a standup character. The other is a tough mofo that will win at all costs, character be damned. It's too bad more people don't train in Jenny's camp. Shannon's camp just has an uninspiring robotic vibe to it that is really hard to get behind.

Incredible efforts by both of them. Just getting slightly off balance made both of them fall. Shannon's fall was all-in, that had to hurt.

Tough race. Could have been cleaner down the stretch. Simpson did take a couple of half steps off of her line to close the gate a touch, they are tough to see but you can see it. She is smart and I would coach my kids to do the same.

You know she had in her head because she ran the other gal out into lane 2 and they headed down the homestretch.

Simpson won, but with these kind of tactics, she is not making any friends

She's already got the same career as Charlie Sheen

Great runner but respect lost for Simpson. I hope Mary Cain dominates Jenny in all future championships
