How do they come up with these rankings? Why are athletes with faster times ranked below athletes they have beaten with slower times?
Doesn't make much sense to me
Rowbury's run 3:59 this year and around 14:48. She's deserving. Cain ran 4:04 at 17 and is better this year. She just won world juniors at 3k outdoors. She has a better 800m pr than many in the field, I'd bet, and that 1:59.5 was run at 17 as well. There's no doubt that she has every chance to run sub 4 here and completely justify this spot. That was not the case with Hasay's two Euro runs this year.
Stockholm 1500m Thursday, without Cain, looks very good as well. Simpson, Rowbury and Martinez set to compete.

Why are you singling out Rowbury, Cain and Hasay in your message?
Hasay isn't racing the 1500 in Zurich
Rowbury is world class
Why don't you go down the list of all entries in the women's 1500 in Zurich?
The NOP fixation is a bit much!!
3:56.24
I am familiar with the scoring tables.
That doesn't really answer my question about RANKINGS
3:59 is faster than 4:00 and 4:04, etc.
How does that rank the 3:59 runner lower than the others?
Are they adding up all performances for the year and averaging them out?, etc...

Yup. Let the predictions begin.
(4:03.5)
I can see Cain getting slightly under her PR and perhaps running 4:02 if she runs another race this year. She hasn't raced enough and training gets you ready to race, but you need to race to get race sharp. This is going to be a 3:57, perhaps a 3:56 race and I can also see Cain getting in over her head and running 4:07. If I was Cain, I would not attempt to go with the leaders and run near the back of the pack which will be around her PR pace. I believe in running aggressively, but with a 4:04 PR, she outclassed in this race.
strange year for Cain. She ran a few races while a bit out of shape at the beginning of outdoors. Starts getting in decent shape, runs USATF and World Juniors. Then she just does nothing and is gonna get in like one race at the tail end of the season. So she's basically gonna run one race all summer while in top form (assuming her training has been going fine since Juniors. Why the heck didn't she do some races the past few weeks.

I think it had something to do with getting started at college - orientation or something like that. She didnt' want to miss that.
it will be intersting to see how long she stays in school - esp in an OG year.
