Joel Reichow: He's diesel, not speed merchant.1993 born. 32 years old.
3:51.75/4:10.47/13:53.05/28:23.93/1:02:30/2:09:56
Curious arm movement, unusual.
Can he make US team for 2028? Unlikely, but we wish this guy the best of luck.
Btw, a guy like Reichow is the least likely to dope. Dude's legit.
I agree that Joel is unlikely to be doping, but you sound as if you know who is likely to be doping and who is unlikely to be doping. Could you please educate some of us morons about this?
Top American but I know nothing about him. You all are always telling me how much smarter than me you are so help me out.
Reichow is getting the same disrespect I saw Noah Droddy get years ago.... it's almost identical.
I have to say this again... and I know you hate it but it's true.
If you have to throw shade on runners like Reichow, keep in mind that you have that ability because you, just like I am, are watching the race and not running with the elites like Reichow did.

Nope - I can't name any names but one thing I can say is that the ones who are likely to dope are the ones who are extrinsically motivated to run marathons and guys like the Americans, who have other options in life, are intrinsically motivated to run marathons and that makes a big difference in your mindset.

"Intrinsic motivation is the drive to do something for internal satisfaction, while extrinsic motivation is the drive to do something for external rewards or to avoid punishment. Intrinsic motivation stems from personal enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment, whereas extrinsic motivation is fueled by things like money, praise, or prizes. Both can be powerful, though intrinsic motivation is often more sustainable long-term."

OK so you are saying that guys like Lance Armstrong would be much less likely to dope because he is an American and has other options in life. Well that somewhat clears it up, thank you.
instead of talking about doping we should be talking about this guys air headed voice which indicates that he has probably been clicking off 100 mile weeks for years. true soul runner.
There ought to be a site dedicated to crowd-funding support for athletes like Joel. The site could include pure cash grants or dedicated purchases (athlete posts need for shoes, equipment, travel, etc.) and people can buy those things. It could serve track and field athletes, but those in other sports, too.

Agreed.
I went looking for videos and found this one, which is impressive. He's got great running economy. Low arm carriage, but it feels natural. Reminds me of Rob De Castella, once the fast stuff starts. At 3:00, say. Effortless.
He ran for south dakota state, which is the one really good distance school in the state. So they get a lot of endurance talent. He was All American a few times in cross so not shocking that he ended up being a marathoner

Grow up and learn to appreciate talent.
Droddy got so much disrespect he had a contract for like 7 years.

It doesn’t help that Joel is a super quiet unassuming type. I’m surprised some hair are company isn’t throwing money at him. How he can keep that mane in check just flowing behind him is a miracle.
I saw him run sub 14 at the twin cities tracksmith 5k. Yesterday, when I saw that glorious head of hair breeze pass the finish line on my 120 pixel slovenian bootleg broadcast, I felt a sense of shame in not asking for an autograph back then!
Shout-out to the Thai bootleg stream I found on Youtube. That guy was doing God's work.

A great way to support these athletes like Joel right now is to follow them on social media. Watch their videos, like their posts, add a kind comment. A big part of the struggle for Joel to get a sponsor is that prior to NYC he had under 1000 followers on Instagram. You have the power to help him get a sponsor.
Grinder type, gutted out a tough Grandma’s victory earlier this year in hot conditions when everyone else was falling apart. Probably deserves a bigger contract considering he beat Hicks and Klecker today and he’s toiling away in a shoe store somewhere in the Minneapolis suburbs.
Correct he works at TC Running Company in the Minneapolis suburbs about 25 hours per week.
Chris Lundstrom might be the most underrated coach in America today. The distance has taken some seemingly B and C level talents is crazy.
not sure about white bear lake high school but he's always had very good (also underrated) coaching at both the collegiate (DeHavan) and professional level (Lundstrom)
White Bear has been consistently good for the last 30 years
