2:04: 28 For Wilson Kipsang. BOW DOWN!
London course record by Kipsang, Kebede 3rd
Awesome.
Nobody expected Mo to win, especially with a course record time taking the tape.
Hopefully sense prevails and Mo returns to defend his double gold medals after a huge payday in London.

Well, he has the WR at the distance.

No kidding! I'm not a Mo fan by any means, and I have very little respect for Alberto, but c'mon. It's Mo's first marathon. It has absolutely no bearing on how well he can actually run the distance. A lot of guys crash and burn in the first one. Experience is key for the guys who have the talent and train well. Who was it that said, "Describing the pain of the marathon to someone who hasn't run it is like trying to explain color to someone who was born blind"? This is very true. You don't know what to expect until you run it.
Mo is in no way, shape, or form one the best distance runners of all-time. He is the best track runner (distance) on the planet right now. Given a few more years and more marathon specific training he could very well become one of the best of all-time, but there are so many variables that go into that that it's impossible to tell right now.
I think what we should really take away from this is not how over-hyped Mo is (although he is), but how impressive KB's debut was. This should put one of the ACTUAL all-time greats into perspective.
+1 on all counts
Mo finishes, missing the "sure thing" UK record by over a minute 2:08:21
Will he faint?

Of course they expected him to win. It's what champions do.
he ran well .. nearly caught Mutai. Not bad for a debut.
Bekele woulda smoked all of those guys. 'cept maybe Wilson.

I patiently await Ventolin's analysis of what Kipsang could've done with better pacing today. Seems like he might've been able to lower his WR with ideal pacing.
Mo on another marathon "yeah definitely 100%...I am not going to finish it like this..."
Mo needs to shave that hair -- he thinks he's hot sht and was completely left in the dust here. Primary lesson is he's not a marathoner - priod!
Ventolin's busy figuring out a reason why Geoffrey didn't smoke this field. He barely beat Mo.

Hey, give the devil his due - he finished, which was more than I was expecting. I believe that makes hims the only person ever to break 3:30 in the 1500m and 2:10 in the marathon.
MO, IS THAT WHAT CHAMPIONS DO?

Wanjiru never had the record and still considered one of the all time best. Makau had the record before Kipsang and hasn't done much since...
Honestly I dont think Mo will bring much heat to the track this yr.. it'll be the same old boring sit and kick if anything.. not surprised he's milking his image right now
