I’m stunned that NAU won. Nobody had them even I the conversation! My respects to coach Smith and those boys. They just know how to win! Wow!
You weren't paying attention then. They were ranked #2 in the country and people absolutely had them in the conversation, just behind Stanford who was expected to win.

Yeah but even a top 10 doesn't put them in the race. Hart, Rousseau, and boyden all needed to be 20 places higher also...
This is correct . . . even if Sprout stays w/Robinson and finishes 11th or so, Stanford still finishes 4th with around 135 points . . . their strategy of going out hard the first 3k didn't work although Hart did improve from last year by approx 30 places . . . just because of what happened today may bring Hicks back next fall for xc then turn pro for the start of the 2024 track season . . .

Top 5 average time also goes to NAU at 29:12.4 vs OSU's 29:13.4.

All 7 average time goes to OSU 29:29 to 29:32
My takeaway, NAU's top 5 is "better" than OSU's top 5 while OSU had a better 7 man squad.
I'm ok with NAU taking the title but my gut feeling is still that the high school tie breaker rule is a better rule.
Totally agree; nothing against NAU, I don't mind them but it feels a little sour. If it's a team sport then it makes a lot more sense to score 6th. Oh well, the rule is the rule.
Yes. 100%. Best NCAA’s ever. Two great individual races. Two great team races. All coming down to the very end. And amazing TV coverage. Best ever. Loved every minute of that as a fan

I haven't watched the clip but I can't understand the outrage. We examine and scrutinise athletes bodies all the time in this sport. We almost have to for assessment and analysis. In terms of weight, musculature, form, technique, etc. Can you train/coach blind ? Are commentators ammune ? For example I remember a few of them recognising T. Dibaba had put on a little weight after returning from her pregnancy, as I could too with my own eyes. In fact, T&F commentators make comments about athletes bodies all the time whether it's a change or in relation to other athletes (eg a Walter Dix compared to other sprinters). I don't get it. If I was an athlete I'd say, yes, I've been working on improving my strength this season and have spent more time in the gym and with my strength coach, or something to that effect.
At this point in NAU is just a running factory. A sub standard school but - great setting with a solid coach.

An NAU diploma is the same as any other state school diploma. mug you can’t get a job you either got a silly degree or you aren’t employable for other reasons.
