Not a fan of O’Keefe at all after the Olympics, but I’m impressed she was able to hold up this well today.
I know this has been discussed at length, but I’m still perplexed by this opinion.
When others in the past have given up their spot on the start line due to injury, they have lost the title of “Olympian”. On future broadcasts and start list releases, they also are not referred to as “Olympians”. I’m sure this same talk occurs when it comes time for appearance fees, contract negotiations, bonuses, etc.
So I’m not quite sure what people expect of her. Give up what may potentially be the only opportunity in her life to earn the title of Olympian and the pride that comes with it? Just give up the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars of current and future earnings that are negotiated out of that title? All so that someone that didn’t actually earn the experience or title when it mattered most, can have the opportunity to toe the line?
I'm not sure how you can have any "pride" in not even being about to complete 5k of a marathon
Dever really surprising me with this performance. Maybe he's found his distance
Dever: He's a 27:07/10,000 guy, short size (height), long stride, perfect marathon physique. Very nice running form. Dude can run 2:04:00-2:06:00 I'm 99% sure in future.
