Oh and see you believe in the 2:1 ratio of insults to questions standard on this site... Planning on coming back to mock you sometime in the next 50 years...
What a crazy time we live in. An American just ran 12:56 in a Diamond League and I view it as a disaster.
If you have the ability to rewind, go do it. Woody Kincaid ran THE GREATEST last lap in history for someone who was 15th at the bell. If I counted right, he was 15th and like more than 10 meters behind the pack.
He closed in 54.55 - I wonder if that was faster than the leaders - and finished 6th.
Lol! This must be the most specific accolade ever given to a distance runner: "The greatest lap in history for someone who was 15th at the bell..." and finished 6th.
Look, it was a really good run for him, but that was the health insurance kick - the kick that takes someone from the also-rans to the top 8.
Great tactics from Yomif…has he turned a corner? Cheptegei probably kicking himself for leaving it so late. Grijalva very impressive running 12:52.95 in a “tactical” 5,000.
Never count on Kejelcha. He will disappoint you.
I don't think Cheptegei has ever gotten back to his 2020 and 2021 form. He may never get back there again. He was struggling in the last 200. He probably would've been 3rd if he had positioned himself better throughout but I don't think he was going to close with Katir and Kejelcha today.
Allen's hurdling technique is still ragged, but he is getting better with every race. Holloway still barely holds on to his lead after leading by 20M up to the first 70M. He has a problem with the 110M distance but clearly too arrogant to fix it.
Next, the 1000m, Mile WRs then Double 15. 5K in Paris hehe
Its never enough for us is it? lol
Except for hobby joggers and long distance people not named Faith Kipyegon, inherent in competition is to go faster, higher, further. You challenge yourself to always do better or there's no point to putting on your spikes. The way you do that is to fix your inefficiencies. Grant decelerates between 90M-110M like he hits a wall and one is supposed to be satisfied with this? You are quite welcome to do so, I'm not.
lots of reasons, shoes training and that the 50 year old time is probably drug aided...
None of those reasons explain why the rate of improvement would now accelerate, they actually suggest the opposite. We now have improved shoes, training and drugs and the WR is 3:49.11; further advancements in training and tech will likely provide increasingly marginal benefits. The time it took for the men’s WR to go from 3:49 to 3:42 has zero bearing on how long it will take for the women to do the same. The rates of improvement in both men’s and women women’s WRs was very steep in the ‘30s and ‘40s and have slowed basically every decade since, until now we haven’t seen improvements in the men’s WRs in 24-25 years. Do me a favor and just think about it. Mull it over for a while and decide if it’s logical.
Knighton ran 19.89 as an opener in wet conditions. You cannot accelerate or especially sprint the turn in a 200m on a wet track even in spikes at an optimal rate. His margin over a fine field testifies to what a performance this was.
Grijalva looked really smooth in the 5000M, look for big things from him this Summer.
Bol was really controlled in the 400H, she will run in the 51s. Anna Hall had trouble with the last hurdle or she would have been in the 53s!!!!!!
Hall is an amazing talent, she could be a 400M Hurdler, 400M flat and maybe an 800M runner, along with all her talent in the jumps and throws.....fun to watch.
Those bowerman guys look very tired. Even cooper who is running well seems to be lacking a little bit of pop towards the end. I’m not worried yet. Jerry has proven he knows what he’s doing. But they are lacking finishing speed alot right now.
These are sentiments that I can agree with. while it was insane to think Fisher or Kincaid would win, Kincaid beating Fisher today if no surprise. Even Fisher at the end of the race seemed more apt to say nice job. Just didn’t have the appearance of being frustrated with this finish.
As a fan I was disappointed to see Fisher moving backwards, but Fisher and Jerry are very methodical in his training and no one is sharp from BTC. I have to imagine Grant will time his peak at worlds. It was even odd to see that Fisher could have pushed at 1200 when he was in a better position and the pace lagged. He must know that starting to ramp up a kick from 1200 to 1600 out is his best bet. I do wish he would get off the rail, as he got swallowed up and was in no position to race during the last 800. Just hoping it was intentional and not just poor racing…..
