Let’s just have a moment of silence and awe in the face of true greatness.
Wow, just wow.
Also, she's an Arsenal fan. WE ARE MASSIVE!
But anyway, what a race. And look how happy everyone is for her.
She is the goat at the 1500, and by all accounts a goat person too, humble, kind. Her fiercest rivals (not that she really has any at the 1500) also sort of root for her.

I said before she is the biggest lock for gold in Budapest of any T&F athlete, even more than Mondo or Crouser. I still feel that way. Right now, she’s unbeatable, and if she wants to push the pace, nobody is going to be within 2-3 seconds of her, not Tsegay, not Hassan, nobody.

A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good
idk if this is a hot take but I liked the pace lights in this. With 450 to go she was just behind them, then when she passed with 250 to go it was so exciting, and then she just started crushing. At the end of the race the lights weren't even in frame. It was a striking visual representation of exactly how much faster she was than anyone ever. In the future I think I'd like to see them turned off for the last 100 to add suspense, but I wouldn't change a single thing about that race. Absolutely stunning.
What a crazy time we live in. An American just ran 12:56 in a Diamond League and I view it as a disaster.
What? why do you view it as a disaster?
Its because of the disease that runs rampant here where an american runner should either win or they are bust. I can't believe how people who seemingly follow track and field so close get these completely unrealistic expectations. Yeah sure, people are going to magically set a huge pr in the first meet in the season, that also is on a different continent, in a race where they meet the best in the world in an almost unprecedented situation for them. "But they ran xx the last 200m on an indoor track this january".
Its a horrible way to support your runners. How are they going to last if every result the get the first 1-2-3-4-5-6 years on an international level is viewed as a disaster.
Almgren, who had an actual disaster is level headed and focused on that he after all is in great shape. Running a PR or a close to a PR today is a fantastic result and a huge stepping stone towards eventual wins. You got to build stone for stone.

She’s very well-liked. The Dibaba one is a striking counterpoint. She gives Hassan a big hug and it’s awkward cuz Hassan wants no part of it. The only person who is excited is the pacer Chanelle Price. For Hassan’s mile record several athletes are pumped most notably Laura Weightman.
I generally prefer a great race, like the 5k, but sometimes the paced WR attempts are as enjoyable, just in a different way.
Wow!
I will say this: I was screaming at the screen for Kipyegon, but not the men's 5k. Sometimes those flat out WR attempts are pretty freaking compelling.
I was screaming as well. And I'm not a fan of distance races except for when Faith is racing.
also - compare the reaction of all the other women after this one to after G Dibaba’s WR. Almost none of the other women congratulated Dibaba. Very telling.
Its not telling on any front, the Ethiopians don't speak English generally, Its hard to be personable when you can't communicate.
We can't judge people when we don't truly know... Do you GD's personality is like IRL?

Insane for Faith! But not to go unnoticed is how Jess Hull stuck her nose in it and it paid off big time with an AR, also how well Muir rebounded after leaving Andy Young.
