Ok. I'll give my thoughts like Wejo.

Ok. I just woke up. Was trying to catch them around halfway.
Thoughts without reading this thread:
1) First thing I immediately thought was "looks hot"
2) Only saw 2 pacers with Kipchoge and thought "he's not getting record"
3) Now there is only 1 pacer- how could they not get more pacers than this? or racers? Kipchoge just running by himself is a bit less exciting for viewing purposes. There are a jillion guys in Kenya who can run 1:01 in the half.
4) Race must have started at 3:15 not 3.
5) I'll read the thread to catch up.
1) My first thought weather wise was " it looks calm."
2) My first thought having read this thread and seen the sun is "How hot is it." I'm VERY disappointed no one is talking about the weather. I saw a single post about the temps. I saw one guy say it was 50 degrees at the start. Is that true? What is the TEMP? I'm dissappointed in you LRC. The weather will decide if he gets this.
3) How in the F do you only get 1 pacer?
4) Despite #3, did Kipchoge not learn anything from MANZA? What is he running next to the pacer? I guess it's more relaxing than running behind one guy? But this is the OPPOSITE OF MANZA?

PS. A big reason why I slept in an extra 50 minutes was I saw the temps 3 hours before the start and thought it would be too hot.
The fact that it's sunny isn't good. I'll publish an email Malmo sent me in a week or two. He's done some amazing research on WR weather.
Here is the weather at halfway.

Here is our internal document which summarizes everything in case you just got up. It was not 50 at the start. It was 57. i'm going to go back and change that post.
Weather at the start
57 degrees, 76% humidity
Wind out of the SW at 4mph
Immediately, there are two pace groups -- Kipchoge running on left, Kipsang on right.
2:43 first kilometer
2:58 second kilometer Kipchoge is already clear of everyone else
2:53 3rd kilometer
Kipchoge pointing at something at 2 miles? What is it?
2:54 4th kilometer.
5K: 14:24 Kipsang, Kuma, Kipruto are 9 seconds behind
6k: 2:56
7k: 2:55
8k: 2:55
9k: 2:55
10k: 29:01 (14:37) 2:57 most recent kilometer. Kipsang 11 seconds back, Kipruto and Kuma 15 seconds behind
2:54 for 11th k
2:55 for 12th kilometer
Kitwara has dropped out before even reaching 15k. Kipchoge has repeatedly beckoned his pacers to stay tight and help block wind as they keep spreading apart.
15k: 43:38 (14:37) for Kipchoge. Kipsang 22 seconds behind, Kipruto and Kuma 29 secs behind. Now Bernard Kipkemoi, the second rabbit, has also ropepd. It’s only Josphat Boit and Kipchoge up front.
2:50 16th kilometer
2:53 18th kilometer
20k: 57:56 (14:18) That’s fast. But the funny thing is, that surge came after two of the rabbits were gone.
HALFWAY 61:06
Women
5K: 16:27 Dibaba, Ruti Aga, Gladys Cherono, Helen Tola. 16:02 is WR pace.
15k 49:08. Aga, Cherono, Tola, Kiplagat all within 4 seconds.
HALFWAY 69:03. Chenono, Aga, Tola, Kiplagat all within 8 seconds. Dibaba had requested 68:00.
KIPCHOGE bearing down, going for it!
they are now saying there is a discrepancy between the on course clocks and the one shown the broadcast
I'd really like to know if the time on the car is correct or the clock on the tv.
Amos Kipruto is leading Kipsang, 90 seconds back at 25K. Kipchoge 26 seconds under WR pace. Kipsang looks relaxed.
Kipchoge appears to be on his own now, Kipsang and Kipruto still have 3 pacemakers.
To be fair, Kipchoge's final pacemaker was a vertical hyphen so it's not like he's getting much more wind, but we all know how tough it is to set your own tempo. 45 minutes left. Go Eliud!!

I must say Kipchoge looks good...no sign of fatigue.
Those vapor flies are going to be questioned. Seriously. How much fatigue is being taken off.
He isn't wearing the 4% you dork.
He is. NN running team posted a pic of his shoes and it was Vaporfly.

I’m pretty sure he is wearing the same midsole tech, just different body.
No way are those straight streaks
Amos Kipruto has two pacemakers of his own, with a big gap to Kipsang, who still has a few of his own. 20-30 meter gap between them.
interesting.... wrote:

The one on the broadcast matches up with the official splits, the one on the car seems to be wrong
So, if we do get a WR it’ll be in the Streak! Not the 4%...figure that out. If it really saves you 4% then surely HE’D be wearing them!

I think the one on the TV is correct - came through the half in the same split as the tracking app.
Kipruto & Kipsang still have 2 pacers each, could yet still be factors especially if they close that small gap between each other & work together
Wow a 2:51... careful
