I like the fact that the still fastest marathon ever was run in a pair of Adidas Adizero Adios Boost 2. Must drive the Nike guys crazy!

Kipchoge wears Nike and almost broke 2. That's the fastest Marathon ever.
Yep, I'm kind of now hoping it doesn't happen for that reason alone.
I already got my 4% cant wait to use them!

Hahahahahaha Nike idiots spent millions on this science project, but in classic Nike style blocked basically all spectators from attending except a few insiders. Because running around a silent loop is the best way to chase a time.
He won't.
He's not wearing the Vaporfly. He's got the next generation shoe, not released to the public.
Nike don't need kipchoge to win are run fast they will continue maketing reguardless. That's just who they are .

Not sure those 4% are good for the average runner. They are for runners landing on the fore foot and running fast and it appears that slower runners and heel strikers could have some foot tendon issues

The 4% is made for heelstriking, and it’s probably the first elite racing flat in history that provides enough cushioning for typical recreational runners.

I think the appeal of the shoe (especially to non-elites) is that a hard effort doesn't put as much strain on your joints as a minimal racing flat. This may be worth time in a marathon, or it may be give you the perception of being faster because you can run your same workout and not feel as beat up after
OK. Half of you guys are gonna be triggered now - but the biggest winner today was Donald Trump! ;-)
Call me a troll if you want to for pointing this out, but with Nike Vaporfly flying of the shelves over the next coupla weeks and then again for Christmas sales, the biggest loser was Colin Kaepernick.
Hence Donald will be able to explain any surge in Nike stock used against him politically with the Kipchoge 2:01 effect rather than the Kaepernick campaign.
Well, non-elites i.e. recreational racers can for sure benefit from both more cushioned racing flats and more stable racing flats. Seems like there’s this snobbishness about racing that unless you have perfect world class form you shouldn’t be allowed to wear flats. Hence flats are built with zero cushioning, 2mm heel drop etc. I’m nursing a pair of Asics DS Racers cause they’re a little more cushy and pretty stable. I welcome any company building a racer for us recreational folks. Thanks Nike!
(BTW I’ve tried changing my form over the years several times, tried pose, tried drills and always got injured. I find being a slight heel striker, for me, keeps me running and off the DL. So a pair of cushy racers is welcome)
Is Kipchoge not breaking the new IAAF rule by wearing a model of shoe that is not available to the general public, and only available to him/Nike athletes?
Supply chain logistics aside, he is wearing a generation model of shoe only available to him.

The biggest loser is Dennis Kimetto who won't be able to harvest appearance money on the back of his record anymore. Nike are winners because along with Colin Kaepernick and Serena's meltdown, they have never got so much attention. But Eliud's is especially good because it is for athletic reasons. And all three were on the ad.

Wrong. The adidas adios does. Been around for over a decade.

Trump doesn't know nor care who Kipchoge is, or what the 4% is. A niche running shoe has little overall effect on Nike's stock.
Kimetto would have ran at least that time if had the VF 4%. Same for Kipsang at his peak. It's the shoes. These guys are all fast but Boost doesn't have the carbon plate giving you a minuscule push with each step.
