Boston is a tough course what with how the early downhill miles beat up your legs then the Newton Hills where most people experience "the wall." I think the difficulty of the course cancels out the tailwind making it about identical to what it would be on a fast flat course like Berlin.

Boston is a tough course what with how the early downhill miles beat up your legs then the Newton Hills where most people experience "the wall." I think the difficulty of the course cancels out the tailwind making it about identical to what it would be on a fast flat course like Berlin.

Which only goes to show that you have no idea what you are talking about.

If you think that Hall was ever able to do a legitimate marathon in 2:04:58 then you are certifiably insane. His London 2:06:17 was clearly a better run than Boston.

I think at Boston 2011 he just had a great day. Someday's your just on and you're in the zone and you feel unstoppable. That was Ryan, Geoffrey, Moses, and Gebre on that day

I think most of us are in agreement that he just isn't in shape and went out at world record speed with the preconceived notion that he was in better shape than he really was. Which tells me he needs personal on-site coaching to get him back to reality. I still think he needs to hook-up with Ben Rosario and Naz Elite, which is right in his backyard. I think a group/team environment would help him revive.

Thanks for the link. I think that Ryan is still embarrassed and frustrated with what happened in LA so he's laying low til he feels comfortable to talk about it, and there is a chance that he won't talk about it til he's being interviewed before his next race.

I've been watching some old videos on youtube of him back when he was in Mammoth Lakes under Mahon. He looked so much more fit and more smooth back then. And he looked like he was having more fun and was more confident than he is now. Now he's scattered brained and all over the place.

He has a lot on his mind with running his Hall Steps Foundation, his missionary work, his religion, his sponsors and then somewhere in there he has to fit in his devotion to his career. Perhaps this is the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back to bring him back to what he needs to focus on. I suppose we'll just have to wait to hear from him what those priorities are...

I hope to see him back to form someday. If you're right and this is the wake up call that brings a 2nd surge to his career like with Meb then that'd be awesome

In mid March 2015, Ryan Hall should choose NYC Half Marathon or safer USA 15km Championship, instead of risky LA Marathon.

new york ,2 difficult courses made easy.

Real reason besides others for 3 of the 4

top times. Why didnt women run faster.

My understanding is that in 2011 there was already a urine test for GW501516.

On a seperate note, if Hall's Asics contract is similar to Nike and other companies endorsement contract and contains reduction clauses, he has likely taken a huge income hit since 2012 due to his DNSs and DNFs. Other then some mid level 10ks/10 milers his only major competition he finished in the last 3 years has been Boston 2014 and he likely received little to any money from Asics for a 2:17 performance. I don't see him in Nissan ads, and with as many other products as I used to either. I hope he can resolve his problems and take a legit shot at the Olympic team but it's not looking too good now. I also don't understand why he hasn't come out publicly and discussed why he bombed in LA. No he doesn't owe us an explanation, but one of the problems of the sport is the radio silence from so many athletes when things don't go their way.

Ryan Hall should get Alberto Salazar (Galen Rupp's coach) and leave Asics.

If their glycogen is depleted at 20 miles they need to take a long look at their training.
