Monaco Diamond League - Expectations vs Reality

Womens 400m Expectation: Epic showdown between Miller and Naser leads to the first sub 49 since 2009 Reality: The race will be won in the same old 49 mid to high that has been the norm for the last decade. Mens 800m: Expectation: A great pace will be set with and epic showdown over the last 100m as we see a 1:42 and a new world lead Reality: Another slow ass boring race with a 1:43 high - 1:45 winning time and some idiotic tactics from some kenyans Womens steeplechase: Expectation: Epic showdown between Couburn, Chepkoech, and Chespol leads all 3 under 9:00 and possible significatly under and close to the WR Reality: Somebody will screw up, with a hurdles set to the wrong height, somebody missing the water jump, bad pacing, ect... Same old 9:00 winning time, maybe someone breaks 9:00, probably not Womens 100m: Expectation: Someone blows us away with a 10.7 or better Reality: Same old diamond league 10.8-10.9 race Mens 1500m Expectation: Epic showdown between Managoi and Cherioyut sees at least a 3:27 winning time, similar to Kiprop and Kiplagats showdowns back in 2013 and 2014 Reality: Lackluster pace leads to either a sit and kick race won in 3:32ish or leaves Cherioyut by himself going a mediocore time. At least Jakob might blow us away, though he is probably tired from U20s. Mens 110m Hurdles Expectation: Shubenkov countinues his great season breaking 12.9, Possible even a perfect race leading to a WR. Reality: He probably false starts leading to another classic diamond league 13.1 race. Yay Mens 800m heat 2: Expectation: The drug cheat Wilson will rise up as a simple for all female Athletes, Dethroning Semenya and her accomplices Niyonsaba and Wambui once and for all. Reality: Semenya easily walks away with this again, Wilsom falls just short of Niyonsaba, and maybe even gets beaten by Wambui. Same as always. Mens 200m Expectation: Lyles proves he is the next bolt running under 19.6 Reality: Not to much to complain about, Lyles will destroy these scrubs, but its the diamond league, so prepare for disappointment. Mens steeplechase: Expectation: Finally, Kipruto, Jager, El Bakkali, and new to the party Kigen will chase a fast time as Kipruto fulfills his promise to go for the WR. The pacemakers do their job and we see all 4 break 8:00 and possibly one gets the WR Reality: After a fast first kilometer, the pace laughably slows down yet again, leaving us with another 8:03-8:10 race as Jager gets outkicked again, and we see Kiprutos talent wasted. Neither of them will ever break 8:00.
