Actually he was DFL from the start. Amazing patience and savvy for a 17 year old.

He even blocked Centro from cutting in on him the first 200m.
Thanks malmo -- good point. Looking at the race analysis on the DL site, his 100m splits look like this. (These splits all in tenths, so they don't perfectly match the final time.) This shows your point about how smart he paced this effort.

17 year old kid runs 1500. Not ONE 100m increment is over 14.8s.
Where did you find those splits?
It's on the official timing site -

I looked it up and there were several definitions. Am I out of date on my slang? People please update me on the current acronyms.
Dead for last
I always thought it stood for Dead F*cking Last

Correct
You couldn’t see in the broadcast, but ferguson rotich was behind jakob
DFL is only meaningful at the end of the race. Try to keep up.

Fantastic splits...the kid is a Mozart-level genius.
I also noticed that Filip ran an entirely different sort of race. Brilliant coaching, each athlete had their own plan and executed flawlessly.
Daddy Ingebrigtsen could teach U.S. coaches a thing or two.
jacobs eyes were saucer large when he crossed the finish line, obviously looking at the clock.

Most ridiculous youth performance in decades and were just like NBD that’s NORMAL!!!!
Top nations in the World right now for the mens 1500:
1: Kenya
2: Ingebrigtsens
3: USA
The old Norweigian record belonged to the third brother BTW.
DLF at the bell is a really stupid strategy unless your kick easily torches everyone else. Getting through the traffic and running wide takes a ton of energy.
