60:45 PACE for HM in Berlin tommorow !

1985 Chicago Marathon. Steve Jones, with a 2:08 PR, went out in 1:01:42 (28s off the WR for the half marathon) and remained on Sub-2:04 pace through 20 miles before fading to a 2:07:13.

If Kipchoge sports a PR that is 5 min faster and - no disrespect to Jonesy - is obviously of superior talent, why is it so impossible to believe he could go out 1 min faster the first half and still hold on for a 2:02:xx WR?

60'45" ? This is going to be a mess...I bet they find a few drops tomorrow morning and settle for 61:00. It would make no sense for KB and Kipsang to not run with the pacers. And it's not like they can get three 62:00 pacers overnight for a second group.

Looked at pre race pictures of Bekele.

He is not fit.

He will not be in the mix at the end.

This place cracks me up. Probably less than 0.1% here have even run under 2:10, let alone 2:05. Yet, you know soooooo much more than the elites that are actually racing. Think about that. Really think you're smarter than them or their coaches?

I hope Bekele doesn't go with it and wins from behind. I wonder if down the roa Bekele will consider getting a new agent. You can't have an agent representing you and your nemesis in the same competition.

So for a start this indicates that the Monza shenanigans setup was worth 49s for the 1st 1/2 of the marathon alone. Interesting. Given the hydration/drinks set up in Monza one has to wonder what benefit the new shoes actually had, if any.

I keep seeing nike ads where kipchoge says the wr is slower than his personal best. I thought it was just advertising but i think that he really thinks his pr really is 2:00:25

A. They probably know how to multiply by two.

B. They would not have medals and records they have if they listened to everyone who told them they were stupid to try.

C. Sometimes a runner goes out a pace they aren't likely to hold, not because try are 'stupid' but because even if they don't hang on , they believe the others will die harder than them.
