This is what I was thinking - is the pace really so hot that none of the other Americans are going with it? I get that with the USATF championship they want to race for the win with the race w/in the race.... but would love to know how far back the chase pack is.
I see Hall is committed to poor racing strategy AGAIN. Has he learned nothing over the years? I figured Jack Daniels would have worked on that with him.
mens pack through 5 miles in 24:20. hall now on back of lead pack. sara and blake russell in lead womens pack. women going slow.

I have a feeling that front pack is a race of attrition. Heat will get a lot of 'em.
Seems conserving energy and trying to win the US championships would be a reasonable goal.... but I'm sure hall would rather have the overallwin. still, seems improbable.
Just wish I knew what was happening in the chase pack.

i have a bad feeling about hall. hopefully he slowed on purpose, but i dont think so.

announcers are saying hall looks sluggish, but he still looks okay to me.
This may sound stupid (and look at Hall's stride, unlikely), but is it possible Ryan is running a smarter race by backing off and not just...done? Again, I look at his stride and as Tim Hutchins pointed out, I see a lot more fatigue than control, but is it at all feasible he is just conserving after realizing the early pace was too hot?

ryan has 2 min on chase pack. he is through 8 in under 40. i dont think he looks too bad, but it is impossible to tell. mostly, i feel impending blow up coming on but i still have an illogical hope he is feeling good
Hall has officially blown up -- last two miles were 5:18 and 5:19. Sara is gonna be so sad when the elite men go by :(
They just said Hall's last mile was 6:15. Hutchings thinks he's going to drop out soon.
