The video is good. Her arm did swing out a bit wider on that stride, but no more than Hassan. It might be hard to prove intent.
Gotta hear what AlSal says about this one! If it was in Niketown, or USATF administered, Simpson would already be drawn, quartered, and served up on a platter.
No incentive for Salazar to get Simpson DQ'd, because if he were to succeed, the US would lose a spot in the women's 1500m at 2015 Outdoor Worlds, making it harder for Rowbury and Cain to make the team.
I dunno why I'm not seeing what you guys are seeing. All I see is their arms getting tangled up which messed up Jenny's stride and then they both when down. I don't think it's Jenny's fault at all.

I agree. It's a possibility, but it wasn't clear from the video if a slight arm contact was actually the first indicator to Simpson that someone was on her inside (before further contact).
I don't see any intention to impede, the contact was incidental, and I don't think it affected the outcome of the race in that Simpson stumbled making it closer than it would have been otherwise. Reviewable, certainly, but I don't see a DQ.

This is remarkably classless.
My call: no DQs. Row bury did not have enough room to go wide so she tried to cut onto the inside. They both dive for the line and rowbury's arm hits simpson's and Simpson trips rowbury. That's a close race, not a DQ.

Simpson clearly caused the contact. You can't cause contact from the front - yes - but you can from the side, which is where Jenny was in relation to Rowbury at 5:56 in the video. Her left arm goes out - why? To impede Rowbury.
Her left arm goes out wide not to impede anyone, but because she is exhausted and letting up just before the line. Runners do this all the time. The arms swing wide when we slow down to keep the balance. Watch sprinters when they let off the gas and slow down rapidly after exhaustion; same thing happens.
Rowbury did not dive for the line. She was upright when she crossed the finish.

I'm not quite sure why you think that matters.
Too inclusive to DQ. Simpson was not moving over, she was in lane 1 the entire last 100m when she was outkicking Hassan. Row tried to sneak inside. Jen gave her a little arm hook, but it wasn't clear enough to determine if it was intentional.
Great race. Row deserves credit for a gutty finish is a race she was an afterthought going in.

Jenny was lunging at the line while Shannon was coming up to her and their arms made contact. Big Deal. Jenny more stumbled across the line than dove and Shannon kinda dove at the last second.

Yes, she had to just beat Hassan and Aregawi.
Rowbury tries to pass on the inside. It's tight. They make contact and both went down. Nothing intentional. I think there's nothing there to call for a DQ.
The only one with incentive to protest would be Hassan, because she would get the Diamond jackpot with Simpson DQed, but it doesn't look like she did.
I guess I'm the only one that thought it was weird how easily Rowbury went down. It was just a bit of arm contact. I wish there were a front view where you could see the feet.
It's hard for me to believe that we're having a serious argument about this. There is absolutely no way this should be a DQ.
On an unrelated matter, great positioning by Rowbury all race long. She knew the pace was hot so sat back just far enough to get a full draft the whole way and almost parlayed it into a win.
Simpson, on the other hand, was all out and still not able to keep contact with the pacers. It almost cost her the race, but in the end, she was MUCH stronger than the others. It was truly a wire-to-wire win.
I said as much if you read my other posts. But if you're Hassan it makes sense to log a protest when there is a Diamond jackpot on the line, even if it's a longshot. I'm not sure if she did, but I sure would have if I were her coach. .
