My understanding is that he uses the burn your athletes out approach. He may be the cause all the athletes fizzling out. Or maybe alternatively, they can't succeed without him.

Ah that's it and not to start an age debate, but if he was 26 in college, he's probably just sunsetting now. Maybe that's why BYU athletes can't compete post college: they're out of the prime, where as everyone else is entering it or just about it enter it after the graduate.
No, He's 26 now. He was 23-4 in his senior year.
