The top Kipchoge wore was pretty much the same design as the one Caleb Olson wore on his way to winning Western States in 90+ °F heat. Both are Nike sponsored.

I haven't seen any of the publicity about it, but how is his top all that different from the Swiss cheese top that Galen Rupp (and maybe other Nike athletes?) wore sometime around 2016? That seemed to disappear pretty quickly, so I assume that it didn't have much of a performance benefit.

Kipchoge can do whatever he wants. Stayed in the main pack for 25k-ish. Probably could've run sub-2:10 on a fast course today. Kind of like that he was there to both have a send off & try to be competitive. He could've just started the race at something a little more sustainable, but decided to go with the leaders for as long as he could. Gotta respect that choice at his age/knowing his accomplishments. Great ambassador for the sport.
