Puskedra retires

He gave it a go, should be proud.

The decision he made isn't an easy one, but probably makes more sense to earn for his family and be there for his family rather than spending a few more years chasing his personal goals.

Puskedra is not that young and of course his best marathon time is about 8:44 from the world record, which is sort of the position a 2:16 guy was in 40 years ago. Just stating some facts. He is a good runner, no doubt.

Eh, he just turned 29 which is not old for marathoners, and once Rupp/Ritz/Abdi retire he’s got about a fast of a PR as anyone left, granted it was a few years ago, but he could still be a solid threat for a US team. But if your heart isn’t in it then it isn’t in it.

This is his second retirement from the sport. He'll get the running bug again in six months, after he gains 30 ibs.

He didn't want to retire it seems. He has a legit chance of making a team next year in Atlanta, but he kind of ran out of options. Already dropped by Nike once, had no other marathoners to train with in OTC, as they want to focus on Mid distance. Made an adult decision to take care of his family over his own personal dreams. Can't knock that. Lots of gutsy races from him. All the 2:15 US men are partying tonight.

think he was also informally coached by Andy Powell who obviously has now left Eugene

and he's probably talented enough to still have a shot at the trials if he just hops in

I would imagine that his first child’s illness changed him greatly as to what is important in his life. I wish him well.

I'm gonna miss him.

I noticed Real Estate is a lot like software. Everyone thinks they can do it, but it takes a certain person and skill set. Notice all the threads here from people on how to get into coding? How can I get one of those high paying software jobs?

I think he'll have success at it. He's a good fit. Real estate is like running. It's competitive. I'm sad to see him retire from running.

Americans are soft. I remember a thread last year on the top Australian marathon runners, all of them of have regular jobs. In that thread someone said that is how it is in most other countries. Yuki Kawauchi has had a regular job, up till this year. It doesn't take much time to train to be a elite runner. A hour or two in the morning and evening.

This Swedish marathoner that qualified for Rio is a janitor that cleans only outside normal office hours. His PR is 2:08.

Kawauchi isn't married with 2 kids, moron.
