I work as a tutor for student athletes at my school. This past semester, I tutored a girl who I thought was the cutest, nicest person I’d ever met, but I figured that this girl was so far out of my league that I never really even considered asking her out. (Student athletes at my school automatically get set up with tutors for difficult courses, so she wasn’t working with me because she was academically struggling or anything like that.)
The day after my last meeting with this girl, I went to text a friend to see if he wanted to grab dinner that evening. I guess I still had my text message conversation with the girl open from scheduling our appointment the day before, and I realized just as I hit send that I’d sent the message “hey, do you want to grab dinner tonight?” to her instead of the intended recipient. I was mortified and I immediately got to work typing up a message apologizing and explaining the situation, but before I got done, she responded “sure!”
We’ve been dating ever since, and things are going great. Not sure if I should eventually tell her the story of how I accidentally asked her out. I don’t want to send the message that I didn’t actually want to go out with her (which couldn’t be further from the truth), but I find the whole thing to be pretty hilarious and I think she might too.
