Looking at all of these elite high school runners I came to realize that none of them are being drug tested. If NCAA athletes and pros have to do it, why can't elite high schoolers. Some girls (Katelyn Touhy) are running faster than guys who have hit some very respectable marks in track (4:17, 1:54, etc). I know many of them are running off raw hard work and talent, but I am sure there are a few that have dabbled into substance abuse. Also if you look at some of them in season, they reach a point where they don't look anything similar to what they did just a year earlier (much skinnier, muscular, or both), hinting towards substance abuse. With all of the pressure put on them to preform well from various sources, there would be nothing holding them back. Not to mention the benefits of being successful (NXN, Footlocker, running fame, etc). I am curious as to what others would say on this subject...
