Thank you rojo for calling this out. I'm a Penn State alum, completely embarrassed, AGAIN. I agree with the poster who said they should get rid of greek life. THAT would be much more effective if the PSU admin is really concerned about the well being of its students. And yes, if you know central PA there are plenty of options for outdoor exploration just outside of campus, but the message this sends is pretty ridiculous. We overlooked child welfare for decades, we let our fraternities abuse (and actually kill) their own and be predators towards women so as not to jeopardize future and current alumni contributions. But kids going outdoors, better do something about that now! Ugh.
For four years I walked to and from classes at Penn State, uphill, both ways, in the snow, without a fvking cellphone. The entire time I carried this Penn Relays watch with me. This watch was on your daddy’s wrist when he was shot down over Hanoi. He was captured, put in a Vietnamese prison camp. He knew if the gooks ever saw the watch it’d be confiscated, taken away. The way your dad looked at it, that watch was your birthright. He’d be damned if any slopes were gonna put their greasy yellow hands on his boy’s birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something. His ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family.
And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
