With a perfect ACT score and a 4.0 unweighted GPA, I've got the academic requirements to be qualified for an Ivy League, and I have decent extracurriculars: 6yrs of Track/XC by senior year, 4yrs of Scholars' Bowl (looking to win national championship), and some other in-school things. From the school perspective, I'm all set, and I have just as good a chance as the hundreds of other kids with the same or better qualifications.
Despite this, I'd like to increase my chances even more. I have no clue what sort of times I'd need to get an admissions boost, so I'm not really sure what kind of goals to set. I'm also fairly undertrained, so I don't want to pass up the opportunity to run in college (a longtime goal of mine) just because coaches thought I wasn't good enough.
If it turns out that I'm just not cut out to run D1 at an Ivy, I'm certainly not counting out running at a prestigious D3 school. I really just want to run at a college that's academically rigorous and has a decent running program in which I can improve.
thanks
