There really isn't anything else worth saying on this topic. But then, this is LRC, home of the OMG! OMG!
It was important enough for there to be a need to pass actual legislation to deal with this issue, but, it's "meaningless sh!t" and there "ins't anything else worth saying on this topic". I get that you two are idiots, but for the rest of the world, when your government finds an issue important enough to pass legislation it's a pretty good idea to ask questions. You two can go back to living with your head up your a-ss.
I thought we could always choose what race we were when we filled in the bubble sheets on standardized tests.

Lol, solid burn on DG... but he is still right. Surely you see the idiocy of this bill?
I see the idiocy of DG's post. Do you?
Neither of us have seen the bill. you're commenting on an article that tells you literally nothing about the bill.
What I do know about race and identification is that it's not a simple thing. Here in Alaska they've had numerous discussions over who qualifies as being "Native Alaskan" as blood quantums shift within small remote communities.
I doubt any "answer" is to simply give carte blanche for any and all children to identify any which way they choose. And I doubt the bill does that, but maybe.
I also doubt people like DG give ANY consideration to the nuance of identification and these kinds of subjects. All he sees is the opportunity to try to enroll in grade school.

Yes it does, they have carte blanche to self-identity. Here you go:
https://www.doe.k12.de.us/cms/lib/DE01922744/Centricity/Domain/366/Prohibition%20of%20Discrimination%20Regulation_Community%20Conversation%20Draft9.20.17.pdfSee 7.4. The wording is straight forward, the student may self-identify gender and race. The following section is what parents are getting all bothered about as the child does not need a parents permission to self-identify.
However, the student must already be enrolled, so, no, a 34 year old man can’t register as a 10 year old girl. Just means any registered student can decide what gender and race they want to identify as and then be allowed access to amenities and programs accordingly.
Perhaps you should re-read what I wrote.
You should also re-read the pdf you linked.
7.4 All students enrolled in a Delaware public school may self-identify gender or race which is maintained in eSchoolPLUS.
7.4.1 A school may request permission from the parent or legal guardian of a minor student before a self-identified gender or race is accepted; provided, however, that prior to requesting the permission from a parent or legal guardian, the school should consult and work closely with the student to assess the degree to which, if any, the parent or legal guardian is aware of the Protected Characteristic and is supportive of the student, and the school shall take into consideration the safety , health and well-being of the student in deciding whether to request permission from the parent or legal guardian.

Regulation 225 would safeguard children’s “protected characteristics,” such as gender, age, race, sexual orientation and gender identity.
So I could walk into a Delaware school and identify as a 10 year old and they would have to let me be a student of the grade school.
Section 7.4(1) of 225’s Prohibition of Discrimination Code states, “All students enrolled in a Delaware public school may self-identify gender or race, which is maintained in the school.”
Golly your a Moran. "Protected" means you can't discriminate. It saying Delaware public school must accommodate old people, not that you can claim your age. "Self identify" means self identify.

At least you admit you and your kids are simple-minded.
I was born a poor black child. Rachel "naacp" Doleal, if thats her name, and Elizabeth "pocahantas" Warren were ahead of their times.
It does matter in a country where scholarships are given out based on gender and race. Maybe they'll no longer give out these types of scholarships and just give out merit based scholarships.
Nancy Pelosi's grandson should be thrilled!

Was there some pressing need for this? Is there a large group of little kids who identify as a different race?
If a little white kid does identify as black can he know call other black kids the "n" word without being racist? Would he have to come out as black before he uses the "n" word or could he just toss it around for awhile and then say he's actually black now so its ok?

What is he re-reading? Do you know what the word "may" means? It means they don't "have" to ask the parents.
Or did you have some other point?
That document states that if the school and student 'think' they won't like what the parents decide then they won't ask for permission from the parents. Wow the flock wow.
America is the only democracy in the world that "identify people´s races".
I identify as Bill Gates but I just checked my bank balance and it's still zero...WTF? Life ain't fair.
It means they may, even if the child doesn't want them to. It also means they don't have to discuss the issue with the parents if they have a reasonable belief that doing so isn't in the best interest of the child.
I wonder why that might be?
