LOL. Great choice of a 'German enough sounding' name to try and convince posters that you are a real German and not the same fool who posts similar rubbish.
Beyer was on a Stasi (that's a German government dept) list stating he was on a state sponsored drug programme. Do you understand the consequences of this? His own country is stating that he was a doper! There is no getting away from this FACT, and any defence or singing of his praises, just makes you look ludicrous.
Not only was he doped to the eyeballs in Prague and taken straight off the track by GDR officials at the end, wrapped in a blanket and not allowed to do a lap of honour (v. strange behaviour in itself), but during the race he was drafted for practically the whole race until 700m. In a race with a rabbit to the bell and he's solo for the rest, then he probably runs 1:44.3, just as he did in 81. That year and 79 he was destroyed by Coe in the European Cup races.
Your faux speculation of Straub's chances in 84 aren't fooling anyone either. Anyone with a half decent knowledge of the event knows that Straub would not have been a contender in 84, because he retired after the Moscow Olympics, some 3 years + before the Eastern block nations decided to boycott LA.
