Tonja Buford-Bailey being ousted at Texas was in the cards all along. She participated in a lot of the back-stabbing that happened, and didn't really impress her bosses with that stuff. Its too bad since she is a very good coach, and recruiter. But as the old saying goes, "you reap what you sow" and Tonja got exactly what she deserved. Word of advice to all young coaches - don't backstab your head coach no matter what. Always keep your head above water and take the high road.
Maybe why he left; recruiting to a regional level school in the South region is tough.
Where is he going?
I heard he got offered the Edinboro XC HC position.
Who knows, McGregor’s coaching network is bigger than the death star

Tell that to Petros

Fake news. Process hasn't even begun. Heard alot of other great candidates in the bid as well from people that actually built the programs they are at, unlike McGregor who was given great athletes and probably leaving cause those athletes are graduating.
Wrong thread unless there is a coaching position involved with the event.
Radford? Is the position a new assistant distance coach or did Thatcher leave?

Thatcher is gone
Ok Husky Nation... What’s the word at Washington? Surely there have been candidates on campus this week?? If not - JD is likely the man.

Thanks for the reminder that it was Petros who stabbed Norton in the back. Great coach but not of great character.
Ok ken

He won a national title so I guess he was right in thinking he could do it better.
Petros was leaving UgA and the athletic director made an adjustment to keep him around which now that seems to be a brilliant move. Why are you bashing at petros?

Do you interpret this move as a sign that Bucky is headed elsewhere, perhaps UW? Geopfert wanted to stay in the SEC and shifted to UT?
Other reasons?
