I am a coach with an athlete considering attending Oregon State. Does anyone have experience working with or being coached by Louie Quintana?

Good guy, good runner , good coach .
I go to Oregon State and I've met him once - he was cool & friendly ! He has a plan for the program to progress over the next couple years. He has also coached some very fast runners in the past and definitely knows what he is doing.
A bonus is he gave me run-gum!!!!
Does Oregon State have a track team yet?

All true. That said, the ASU distance program has been atrocious the last few years & just about the only program consistently worse than it has been Oregon State...he's got his work cut out for him...sounds like he'll have more freedom to do his thing at OSU compared to ASU though...

Yes. Only women though. Beautiful track facility.
Women were 11 out of 12 in the Pac-12 this year.
I do not know him very well. There are no red flags as to how he interacts with his team. He has a solid reputation amongst coaches, and I think he has character.
My two cents--the PAC 12 is consistently one of the best (if not the best) distance running conferences in the country. With that said, his last couple years at ASU his teams were mostly competing in the bottom third of the conference. I am not saying that he should have competed with Stanford, Oregon, Washington and Colorado (those schools have a lot of advantages) while at Arizona State, but if he could not get the job done at ASU than it seems unlikely things will be drastically different at OSU.
Oregon State will continue to be an above average Division I team, but I don't see them competing well within their conference in the years to come.
I was a nobody D1 collegiate runner and competed against him when he was at 'Nova. I used to run into him post-collegiately. Very approachable and friendly. He has had noticeable success with some athletes from ASU. Some have turned into incredible pros. Desi and Amy H. to name 2. Stating the obvious though.
He’s a solid coach. Like many Top D-1 coaches, he’s had very successful athletes (including multiple National Champions) along with some years of low-performing teams. His training structure is very similar to what you would get with most other High-Level Programs. He regularly speaks with multiple Coaches that coach other Top -Ranked programs and they all do similar training.. so training-wise, you can be confident you’re not just with some dude who makes stuff up and hopes for this best.
In the bigger picture, with any coach at any program, running well and becoming successful is never guaranteed.. that’s just how it is. But with Coach Quintana, you will almost certainly enjoy being coached by him. He’s a great guy-and simply put- just has a good personality.
When it comes to running, he won’t ever give up on you, and will continue to be optimistic and put his full effort into getting you better-no matter how bad you perform, how long you’ve been injured, or if you’ve been going through tough mental/emotional struggles that have hurt your running. He will give you his best, no matter what. (I tend to be optimistic and like to believe that every coach is like that, but sadly, that’s not the case).
But also, attending a college isn’t just about the coach.. The coach is a very big part of it, but also make sure to consider if Oregon State is going to be a good fit for you in all areas of your life.
If you have any specific questions about Coach Quintana, feel free to ask.
Yes, when Louie had hardly moved into his office
I don't have much experience with him, but the little I do have leads me to believe he is at the very least a decent guy. I cannot say good or bad beyond that, but he seems like a decent guy. There are some coaches in the NCAA who are definitely not decent human beings, so his character alone is a big plus.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
