She is certainly already one of the top sophomore in her State, but I doubt that she will improve enough this year to become one of the top HS kid in the country. But who knows, she could indeed surprise us. She is that good.

You're kidding, right? Right???
She's been the top HS kid in the country since the first time she ran this season.
She just ran a 16:52 course record at Bowdoin Park yesterday, which was the #4 female speed rating all-time in the nation.
She's raced the #4 ranked girl in the country the last two weeks in a row and beaten her by over 40 seconds both times.
She ran the Bowdoin Park course 48 seconds faster as a soph than Mary Cain's course best there when she was a junior, in her final season before turning pro.
Please tell me you're just kidding, or you just haven't been paying attention, or something like that.

You are kidding, right? Katelyn and Claudia Lane are the two best HS girl runners in the country right now.

I’ve been following it quite closely.
She had the third fastest sophomore time when she ran the 16:52 (boys and girl combined). So she is REALLY one of the best sophomore in her State right now (no arbitrary gender discrimination required here).
One more minute improvement and she could become one of the best HS kids this year.

I get it. He means that she is good for any kid, and if she drops a minute she could be good compared to a guy.

I guess I was off.
Kilrea, Tatter? As they won regional FL ahead of Kreft and Cheeseman respectively.
Others?
Who is the top 5?
The girls are a lot more interesting than the boys this year. Seems to flip every couple of years.
...and Hasty of course.
I guess that Hasty is number 1. He ran 14:54 for the win at NXN Southeasr Regionals last year. This year he ran 14:36 for the win. We know how good he was last year, so... I guess that he is number one.
An interesting thing. The 2017 HS crop was very good, but in looking at the regional FL results for example, we see that the winning time was faster in 2 of the 3 regions, so it looks like some of these names will become familiar in the next few months.

Is Hasty sub-14 on a track material if he time trialed this spring/right now?
Ocean Springs, Mississippi boys are a top national team. Alex White is a sophomore and one of the nation's best

Brodey hastey ran 14:32 at wakemed last year (CR) in an all out sprint to the finish (against DJ principe 4flat miler) after a crazy fast start (4:20ish if i remember correctly).
This year at NXR he ran 14:36 after a relatively tactical and slow start (4:35 first mile -- milesplit reported 4:41 but I was there and it was 4:35), and he stayed with the pack until around the 2 mile I believe (9:35 split). He then gapped the pack by over 20 seconds over the last mile to finish in 14:36. Assuming his final kick from 3miles-5k was between 30-35 seconds, that means he ran the last mile in 4:25-4:30, with the 2nd 800 of that mile being all uphill.
I think he could break 14 on the track and he will run 3:57 in the mile this spring and sub 8:40 in the 2 mile/3200. The guy is fast as f uck
So...
Kilrea, Tatter, Hasty...
Troutner and Sprout went faster than Clinger did last year at Southwest NXN
Will 2018 be faster than 2017?
All theses guys are going faster than the top guys last year

So Troutner is even stronger than Hasty...
Track times will be incredible this year
