Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Holy crap
Haa his time was a palindrome. Hope he and Kerley have a nice showdown in the 4x4 finals.
Since he only had to jog a 1:45 yesterday... no bigee...

Yeah he can't beat me in open. Say no mo
Fred Kerley doesn't run anchor.

i said many times he coud go 44-flat for a fully rested 1-off 400 with 0 wind if flat-out from gun
i said he had lot more in the tank in those 44.5 & 44.7 as both unrested with prelim the day before in each, windy meet weather & he didn't run the initial 200 hard at all in either
this shows what he can run if fully rested & flat-out from baton exchange :
normally you add on 0.7s for a relay to convert to open 400
43.34 + 0.7 =
44.04
Korir with this relay leg proves that he has the fastest 400 speed ever of any elite 800 guy
that relay leg puts him a lot quicker intrinsically for 400 than caballo who had 44.26 open

Not really
Relay legs give 800 guys with crappy starts like Korir a biased figure. He will lose over a second out of the blocks. Still, he could go maybe 44.4x.
I'd love to see Korir vs. Kerley vs. Van Niekerk at worlds.

A difference of 0.22 over 400m is not "a lot quicker", it is a little quicker.
Wild Dominion wrote:Relay legs give 800 guys with crappy starts like Korir a biased figure
no
you don't know he has a crappy start
he has evidence of just 2 open 400s this year in each of which he was quantum leap better than anyone in the field & didn't need to blast it from the gun
each time he cruised it to 200 & blasted the last 200
he knows racing against a Fred or Lashawn he coudn't do that & woud have to blast it from the gun
He will lose over a second out of the blocks
is this a joke ???
what possessor of a 43+ relay leg you know was 1+s slower for open 400 ???
Still, he could go maybe 44.4x
no
try 44-flat, as all are entitled to 0.7s conversion from their relay leg
What you mean by "a lot"? wrote:A difference of 0.22 over 400m is not "a lot quicker", it is a little quicker.
0.22s is huge difference over 400m
Watch Korir out of the blocks. Truly slow, as in NOT a sprinter. This is independent of his pace the first 200. He just can't get going quickly. A rolling stat gives him a few extra tenths over the differential of a true sprinter.Another runner (and true sprinter, not an 800 guy) with 1+ differential? Michael Cherry LSU: 43.61R, 44.77PR .

Bleep blorp my calculations are purely hypothetical but I am a massive douche about it. Keep bleep.

Alot of top 100m men do c.8.8s for the last leg of a relay.
There is a range 0.5-1.2s 400m because it depends on how fresh the athlete is. But I will give you credit for a change, two weeks ago he only looked 45s flat but it appears he definitely can go 44-low.

Fred also split 43.35

He gave you evidence. He said 'normally'.
'Normally' runners are exactly 0.70s slower in their open 400m compared to their 400m relay. This is a fact. Disregarding all relevant factors such as what leg they were running, long or short stagger, how fast they were moving when they crossed the start line, how much extra distance they had to run passing other runners. Ignore all those factors, the answer is just 0.7.
LOL
