He's no saint.
Just an average pro at best. C/D tier. Remember the kids on the track team making fun of you in high school when you trained hard? There you go.
It's probably just satire. You find high school / college runners all the time who might say, "Just took a GU / run gum ... time to pop a 1:46" when they might not be expecting even close.

It's called a joke sensitive snowflake. Pretty funny actually.
Meh. It was humorous. Also, the sub two attempt should be mocked.
"I wish we could break two hours."
"It will just take time. The world record is slowly coming down."
"Yeah, but... I mean... what if we do it now by breaking multiple rules!"
"Well..."
"I am incredibly rich!"
"Cool idea. Lets do it."
Thanks Nike.
He has pretty good form wearing those things. I'd roll an ankle. Certainly not Rupp-certified.

I could imagine anything being Rupp-certified.
Those things greatly slow down the stride rate, reduce momentum, and would not help people to run any faster.
I think that this could bring more attention to distance running which is a good thing. More attention, more sponsors, more money.
But the problem is: how is this still running? Running should only be done naked. No more questions about how your springy shoes, ice caps, calf aero tape or whatnot improve performance.
agreed, it's funny and super satiricalhe's just joking around. loosen up you awkward nervous distance runner lamo'sdoesn't matter how good he is either. (he's better than most) I guarantee you he respects and understands that the guys going for the record are the best of the very best marathoners on earth

Doesn't anyone have a sense of humor, sorry humour, anymore?
13:10 and 27:24. Albeit a long way off WR times, surely better than an "average pro"?

Like the Greeks intended.
Envy is the word that describes every Letsrun poster and this twitter dude.
He's envious Nike did not invite him to join the fun. Just like Letsrun poster are envious they can't break 3 hours for the half marathon and they are gonna see a sub 2 hour full marathon.

He obviously is not mocking the runners who will be attempting the sub 2 marathon, he is mocking all of the advertisement hype that nike is putting out over their shoes (with a carbon fiber "spring" plate) that they supposedly developed for the sub 2 project.
