Mistrial declared on more than half of the charges.
Yeah, this doesn't actually mean a whole lot. Sometimes juries just get fed up and throw in the towel--and if they've agreed on at least some verdicts, the judge will call it good.
I was foreman of a jury where that happened. We probably could have come to verdicts on the other charges, but it would have taken the better part of a week (at least), and after a couple days one juror just refused to participate further. The judge accepted the verdicts we had made, and let us go on the rest. Some of our verdicts were "guilty"--I've sometimes wondered whether she would have let us go if we'd only returned our one "not guilty" verdict.
A few pages ago (several pages?) there was a post that commented that maybe the jury decided it was better to stop deliberating all the charges to get it over, as you noted, and to protect themselves -- leave some charges for another jury to figure out. The judge in this case was being protected by Federal Marshals because conservative media groups where trying to get the judge to reveal the names and addresses of the jurors. This was WHILE the jury was deliberating. Geez. Trump media and his supporters have gone far down the rabbit hole. Far, far down. Below the lowest level possible.
