Increasing elevation produces a very high risk of acquiring HAPE or HACE. (High Altitude Pulmonary or Cerebral Edema). Both of these can be debilitating and fatal. The risk of acquiring either of these goes up substantially the quicker that one ascends the mountain. At high elevations mental facilities tend to degrade so there is a high probability of making really bad decisions.
Above 26,00 feet is the so called death zone where there isn't enough oxygen in the air for the human body to survive. The body tissues start dying above this height.
Thank you. September is post-monsoon. Above 8000m can bring issues, but he'll be in and out of the death zone before HACE or HAPE will set in. My guess is he'll acclimate by ascending and descending before he moves back to base camp to try for the record.
