If he/she nods: *middle finger*
If they have earbuds I don't acknowledge them at all, but if not I generally exchange a quick, nonchalant wave.
My greeting is inversely proportional to the number of runners I expect to encounter during a run. I'll say hi and wave if I'm running in a remote area where I only come across a few other runners during my run. If I'm running in an urban park or on a well used path, I probably won't greet anyone I don't know.
Pull my panties down.
Give them the little masturbating motion and finish on their faces

Lmao, I think of the movie Hangover 3 when I read this comment. Chow giving the motion to Marshall when he's behind the glass at jail.
Anyways, I usually give the 3 finger wave to other runners, walkers, or cyclists. If they say "hi" I reply back. Like other guy said above if they're running with music I generally ignore since they're already lost in their tunes.
I also let people know when I'm about to pass them, they usually flinch or get startled when they hear someone shout "on your left" as I'm getting close to passing them.
I run up and hug them. If they don't seem to like that, I punch them in the face and ask for $5.
What is a three finger wave?
i stare towards the ground and look like as much of a grouch as possible so that they will not want to wave to me. At the same time I watch out the corner of my eye because I don't wanna leave em hanging if they do

Um... ever heard of Dubya?
I run in a fairly popular area so just ignore everyone unless they're a friend or something. Otherwise I'd be greeting about 20 people a mile, sometimes more.

That's a potential $100 a mile you are throwing away!!
I look at my iphone
The lazy thumb, index, and middle fingers wave while the ring and pinky finger stay relaxed and a slow side motion of the hand. The wave that shows you just don't really give a crap.
I find that in areas where there are lots of runners, they usually ignore each other because it's too much work to acknowledge everyone. Most of my running is done in areas where there are few runners (

Most of my running is done in areas where there are few runners (fewer than one per mile) and then I'll wave and/or say hello if the other runner makes eye contact, and otherwise not.
The best running interaction is in bad weather. Then you get mutual knowing looks or a smile and nod. Cause no one else is out there.
come on you liars - you SPEED UP, to show the other runner you're not slow. If you can.
while nonchalantly projecting indifference about your pace, of course.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
