The snow route sign was obscured. Any other ideas? I would really prefer to beat this 200 dollar ticket.

Go down on the clerk magistrate.

Go to court, plead not guilty. The judge or his/her clerk will set you a court date. Plead your case at this date and put your fate in the hands of the judge. Or you could ask for a jury trial, which is also within your rights. You could hire a lawyer but he/she'd cost you more than the fine so fvck them and that. Tell your side of the story and make sure you have photographic evidence to back up your claim.
However it plays out, respect the court. They didn't park on the wrong side of the street, you did. They're not at fault but until you can prove otherwise, you are.
There is no jury trial for a parking ticket.

Depends on the state. But most states require a trial judged by a jury of peers if the defendant requests one.
Seek jamins advice on this. He took on his state legislature on a law he couldn't even identify!
Just pay the ticket. I'm sure if they tow cars for being parked on the wrong side of the street they have to have signs posted informing you that that will happen.
If you didn't notice them that's your bad.
Happened to me too. I had a Volkswagen diesel back in college that wouldn't start if it got down to under 20 degrees. I knew the rules and used to have to push it back and forth across the street in the winters,
One night I took a chance that the plows weren't going to be rolling but it snowed after I went to bed and the next morning my car was towed,. Just a block away. Pissed me off having to pay 80 bucks back in 1988 because my car was towed a block away.

I think they might give you a break though if it was possible the sign was obscured. So it might be worth it to try to argue that. Go the court house see where that gets you,
If he lives in the neighborhood he should know the parking rules. It won't matter if the sign was obscured.
I agree if that is the case. If he was just parking on the street for the first time and not a local then he might have an argument. I doubt that is likely the scenario.
Of course the sign was obscured. Probably by snow!
A few years ago I went to a road race and it was cancelled because of torrential rain and lightening. I knew about a trail race in the next state so I drove to the town getting there pretty late. No Wal-Mart's to stay at so I found a nice quiet street and pulled in to sleep for the night. Woke up in the morning and there was a ticket on my windshield. After the race I went back and sure enough there was a sign a couple spaces down. Found the town hall and dropped the money in the slot before I left town. Still cheaper than a hotel.
It sucks and I feel ya, but there are worse injustices, that cause people to go into poverty, lose their friends, get sick, get presumed criminal wrongfully , etc
Diversify your whole portfolio in life. Do a substantial amount of good and have social and technological storehouses where your good deeds can repay you. Consider minor losses and time delays and inconveniences like these in your planning and calculations. Try to have enough money, free time, flexibility, and resources to be resilient against it. Don't count , always, on 100% efficiency and dependability, except for airplanes , the autonomic nervous system and other such matters.
Help somebody else out who needs it sincerely and whom you can relate with. Focus on injustice elsewhere in a constructive way, rather than dwelling on modest parking enforcement headaches, that might cause you to be rapacious and negatively competitive. That might make you feel better.
Well said.
