My race for this weekend, a big half marathon in Virginia, has already been cancelled. No flooding as of yet though.

Joaquin is going out to sea. But the precursor storm/front will dump a lot of rain.
I was underwhelmed by The Gladiator but his other stuff has been decent.
Walk the line was actually really good... Don't believe the hype, just experience it for yourself.
I'm in Maryland. Two local 5Ks for Saturday have already been "postponed" and Saturday is going to be one of the better days for outdoor running the entire weekend. Argh!
I just really struggled to empathize with the operating system and everyone who fell in love with their computers during "Her." It was done as well as it could have been, but at the end of the day I would never let myself fall in love with my computer, nor feel empathy for it.
Walk the line was good.
Loved Gladiator.

I'm in MD too.. Cant believe they are cancelling things this weekend already, when the "storm" wont be here until Sunday night--> Monday... pretty frustrating
Another MDer here. While I will be out in whatever rain we get, now if we get wind that is another story, I can see why some of the HS XC meets have been cancelled. We are supposed to get a lot of rain tonight Joaquin or not and some XC courses need to be kept in reasonable condition for more important later meets. (Think Octoberfest at Great Meadows compared to VA state meet) I can also see that local 5ks, hoping to raise money, will raise more if they don't run during a predicted deluge.
I'm racing the Navy Mile on Sunday in D.C. I'm wondering if they'll pull the plug on that race, too.

oh, I'll be running too, in any weather, until it actually gets dangerous. The race in question I was registered for doesn't have race day registration. They already have all the money, though I guess people could still register at the packet pick up the day before and this way they can make more money from people who chose to defer their race entry for $30.

Grindstone 100 miler in VA is postponed. Was suppose to start 6pm today!!! HUH??!!! Brutal 100 miler. They're trying to reschedule for next weekend. Sucks for out of towners who bought an airplane ticket, hotel etc!!!!
I was going to run Woodrow Wilson Bridge 1/2 marathon on Sunday but now it's cancelled. Was shooting for sub 1:20. They say you can pick up shirt & medal in the near future. I'll pass. What's the point. Race is cancelled.
Not sure about local 5Ks, if they'll continue. Hmmmmmmmmm....
I was registered for the Race for Every Child 5K in downtown DC Saturday. Cancelled. No refunds. Two days ago their website said: "Weather update: The race will go on, rain or shine." When I saw that, I signed up. WTH.

If you can prove that the site actually said this on said date and then they cancelled, you have a case.
Wow, everything is getting cancelled/postponed.
Maryland Ironman is now cancelled.
They're trying to reschedule. Over 2000 participants. Wonder how many paid for flights, hotels, ship their expensive bikes, etc are affected! Ironmans usually cost over $500 just to sign up!

Someone I ride with had trained for that one. It's brutal. Apparently they are trying to reschedule for 2 weeks, but like you said, anyone traveling may not be able to do that, plus it's hard to extend an Ironman taper for another 2 weeks without losing strength. Sucks when you've spent 4-5 months training for something like this. But, I imagine the swim could get pretty dangerous even if Joaquin doesnt hit land.
