I tried a quick search but didn't find anything. How do you guys know it's time to retire a pair of shoes? I've heard the 300-500 thing but that's a huge range and I've had shoes start hurting me well before that and I've heard of many people putting a lot more than 500 on a pair. Also considering different strides/ surfaces/ runner's weights the 300-500 rule seems like a total joke. When I was in HS I would get a new pair each season or if they started hurting me but now I'm getting into more serious training and mileage and less defined seasons. I need something other than the injury test. I know this is a stupid question since I've been running for almost 7 years but when my parents would buy me a new pair before every season it didn't really matter.
