Great job man! This forum could use much more video content from its users so show us. Just for perspective, I think a few sub 4 milers have been able to do this.

I have not lifted a weight in 9 years. But, 10 years ago - at the age of 36 - I benched (Maxed Out 1 time) 305 and ran a 2:57:30 marathon -
I used to ask people if they could bench their marathon time?
2:20 marathoner - bench 220
2:57 marathoer - bench 257
3:06 marathoner - bench 306
I would guess 1/1000 marathoners can bench their time
etc.
Yeah there are stories out there of guys that could run sub 4 and do 300 but I think most of those are exaggerated and there is not much proof. Even guys like Paul McMullan who were pretty jacked, mostly because of low body fat, could probably only do 260-270 when in sub 4 shape.
From what I read, Xfit guy benches over 300. And if his "5k backpack time" (Whatever) is real, then he should at least have sub5 potential.
My high school coach was able to do it.
I've snatched my 800 time... 2:02 and 205lbs
More like 1/10,000....You're insane if you think that many people can lift over 250 pounds...especially runners...

Have you not seen the average marathon runner's body, particularly those running under 3:30, which is about the cutoff for someone who isn't a natural mesomorph to benchpress.
Anyone lifting that much weight has a disproportionately high fast to slow twitch muscle fiber ratio and is likely not suitable for a fast marathon time.
The real question is, what marathon time and benching combo is the easiest. Obviously the faster you are the less you have to press, but then you're probably also in worse benching shape, so what is the optimal number.

225-235 would be my guess for a guy.

Yeah cause there's no way I can put up 240.
Huge difference between 255 and 300 on bench. Six weeks is optimistic. I bench 225 for 12 pretty easy but can't put up 300.

That's because you don't know what you're doing. You should be able to do 300 if 225x12 is "pretty easy".
6:00 mile, 375 bench not same day.
Probably would have trouble cracking 7 for the mile now, currently 220.
Last summer (age 30) I ran a 4:44 (road mile) and later that day put up 305 as a 1 rep max. I weighed 168, I am 5'11.
Last fall I dropped to 142 pounds but still put up 295, wasn't very sharp but could still probably run around 4:50. Double body weight was pretty cool for me.
All of the guys I train with are faster than me, and all of the guys I lift with are stronger and bigger than me. The crappy thing is that I have high water retention so I look much softer than both sets of friends. I think it's an impressive feat but at the end of the day you need to choose a goal or forever walk the line of mediocrity.
You're a twinky little idiot. I've been lifting for years, competed, natural and not natural. I know exactly what I am doing. Look up a strength conversion chart. All the superheros on here lifting 300lbs LOL.

Most calculators list 225X10 as 300lb bench. I imagine you could do a 300 once if trained with lower reps.
For the record I am mired in mediocrity. Can bench tad over 300 on a marathon week and run around 3:30 marathon.

Clearly you don't know what you're doing. Those conversion charts are for max effort. You said "225x12" "pretty easy" aka not max effort.

Pretty easy workout this morning. Taking my mom antiquing now.
I bet you pressed 300 on bench this morning pretty easy right? What a joke.
In October 2013, I ran 2:39 and benched 235. I trained a LOT for the marathon time and do not ever lift weights though. Weightlifting is much easier than running. Wimpy sport, really.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
