toxic waste dumps, ignorance and bliss
On the bikepath, there is a sign that says "No horses allowed." On the main street through town, there is a sign that says "Snowmobiles not allowed on state highways." I like the fact that I live in a place where there is some fraction of the population who might think that riding a horse on a bike path, or a snowmobile on a state highway are reasonable courses of action. That they must be gently reminded that it's not allowed is bittersweet.
Winter is about 6 weeks and is mostly highs in the 60s with lots of sun.

So if there are very few Republicans where you live...who pays the bills?

Without it, running would be substantially more boring and one-dimensional. This geological feature provides me with half a dozen 5km + long, steady 3% grade hills within a mile of my house, a massive trail network, complete with the usual wildlife, waterfalls, and gorgeous views from the higher elevations.
Without it, I would be faced with just the crete, and wide-open country road grids with no shade at best.
That it's not in the USA.
