My girlfriend has gotten really into "natural stride" running starting this summer and doing pilates and hot yoga at her gym. She ran in high school but not really in college and I honestly think she is being fed a bunch of new age mumbo jumbo about running. I cannot find "natural stride" as a running program anywhere, has anyone else heard of it? It is almost like she is in a cult or something: she pretty much hangs out only with her new "natural" friends and is ignoring her old ones. I told her I'd try the vegan thing with her and that seemed to go over well with me being supportive and all. I just eat my meat etc. during the day before I see her. But the no shoes running is starting to get on my nerves, I've done a few slow training runs with her barefoot, but this weekend she wants me to run barefoot in a local 10k with her new barefoot crew and I keep telling her that I can't, I haven't trained without them and the shoes have a purpose. I can't stand these people, they are in great shape overall, but not really for running and the yoga guy is the worst like a cult figure to them.
Anybody else deal with this and have a good explanation I can give her as to why I want to wear shoes but it is not meant as a slap in the face to her?
