I am running twin cities marathon in October. I never ran in college, I picked up running as a hobby. My first two marathons were 3:18 and 3:13 - I went out too fast in the first half and blew up in the second half of both races.
I've run a 16 week cycle of 65-75 mpw. I haven't raced anything all out hard during that time - but last week I ran 22 with 18 miles @ 6:45. Today, I went 22 with 18 miles @ 6:42. The efforts didn't redline me, I had a lot left. My best workouts are likely 3x3 miles @ 6:24 and 8x1 miles @ 6:07. I can do a sub 6:30 tempo run for 10 miles no problem.
I feel with a good taper I should finally break 3. Seem reasonable?
