I realize this message probably won't go over well here (or anywhere), but I simply do not understand alcohol. I am in my mid 20s, have drank socially for years, have drank a variety of alcoholic beverages, have experienced all levels of drunkeness, and I really do not understand the appeal. Sure, there are some alcoholic beverages that taste good, but they tend to be expensive, and taste is not really what most people are after when they drink. I do not enjoy any level of inebriation, and am honestly secrete disgusted that people purposely do things to make themselves stupid, find enjoyment in such activities, and then even boast about them. Why is it we value stupidity and stupid behavior more than intelligence and intelligent behavior? Make fun of the person who is actually doing something with their life but then laugh all night long together in a circle full of drunken idiots blabbering about nothing. What's more, many people make this a regular part of their life, like weekly, biweekly, or sometimes near daily. This seems to me like a complete waste of one's life, let alone money. I do not understand it at all.
What really sucks is that it sometimes seems like I'm the only person who feels this way outside of mormons and the super religious, which I don't really bond well with given my lack of religion (and other things). We just think totally different about nearly everything, so I can't really bond with them, yet it seems like everyone else I ever meet has a big part of their life revolve around alcohol. To me that is a disgrace, but it's just how it is.
Anyone relate?
