Serious question. I thought there was just one.

If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend from a different high school, you might have more than one prom to attend. Is it that difficult to grasp such a simple concept?
I had 2 Proms and 2 Graduations.
I had a bunch of exams too like everyone else. Amazing I got all that sh*t done but my running was definitely impacted (lost at states in Track).
You're only a graduating senior in High School once! My advice would be to enjoy it, but thats probably bad advice to a professional athlete.
She's really lucky this isn't a WC or OG year.

Wow. Are you mad?
It just seemed weird to think of "fitting in races around proms." I just showed this to a friend, and she thinks it sounds weird, too.

You know sometimes people pluralize things when speaking or just are talking about one thing in the plural and add an "s" to something else.
Yes, it is conceivable she could have dates to the prom at her school and at another school. Or maybe her school has a black prom and a white prom. (Just kidding on that last one)
What's fun about dressing up in revealing patriarchy-prescribed clothing and enduring obnoxious (i.e., inane inebriated) behavior and unwelcome advances/groping all night? I mean, I know it’s fun for the endless sea of dim-witted guys that age. But, in reality, she'll probably be in tears and wearing his vomit by the end of the night.
Who?

I don't get this.
Did you go back to high school?
No prom for me. Just too distracting, and prom was on the Friday night before the state qualifying meet.
I did win the state next week (4:08 mile with a 4:11 qualifying race on Friday), but oddly, and likely to the consternation of Lets Run posters, I did miss prom, not so much for the event itself but rather because I felt like even more of an outsider than I was. No significant regrets, but I do look back and realize social networking was not my strength, no doubt made worse by athletics and in college, an athletic scholarship. More power to Mary Cain for going to prom.
well since it was based on the spoken word and with my vast knowledge of grammar gleaned from Letsrun I assume AlSal meant Prom's
Wealthy, famous, beautiful young ladies such as Mary Cain tend to do the prom circuit.
going to more than one prom is very common. you're just mad you weren't dashing enough to catch the eye of young lads/lasses from other schools at HS track meets. probably had enough trouble finding a date to your own prom with those looks...

Maybe she expects to get asked to more than one high schools prom. fetching young lass, world class running. quite the catch for a young gentleman caller.
OP why is this such a problem? Let the girl live her life, it's not weird to go to more than one prom. She'll probably go to her prom and then maybe her boyfriend's prom (if she has one...does she?) or go with some runner boy that asked her on Twitter or Facebook.
Stop making this a big deal. If anybody besides AlSal said it, you wouldn't care. It wouldn't be news.
Many schools have senior proms and junior proms. Maybe some junior invited her, too. Is this such a staggering concept? I can't believe a guy actually started a thread about Salazar putting an "s" at the end of "prom."
Does this quote really need a separate thread? Let's deconstruct what Salazar really meant by "proms". Surely he wasn't just saying she had a lot of high school-related activities going on right now. There must be a deeper, hidden meaning in that phrase.

Wait, is she taking Centrowitz Sr? I'd just imagined she'd be taking AlSal.

every team has to schedule races around proms, tests and graduation. Why are you acting like this is such a big deal?
FWIW, I went to three proms my Junior year and 2 my senior year. I didn't drink at any the Junior year and only one Senior year. I managed to win one State title in the 3200 and placed 3rd in the 1600 (Senior year).
Fast running and a social life aren't mutually exclusive. Girls tend to like solid athletes. Work hard at your sport, but live life for the love of Pete.
