6000 ft altitude and maybe it was tactical?? But the sprint and jumping marks listed pretty much indicate that this is a lower quality meet than even my high school.

If he ran the race, he probably trained for it right? And if not, then the other kids are even slower despite training.

Was the course 10,000m exactly? Could've been longer.

Terrain? Might not have been on the flat track, instead on rolling gradient.

Physical structure of the boy? He might still yet grow more.

Hot temperatures?

Tactical race?

New Course?

Too many variables to consider that aren't mentioned - could easily be an outlying race.

Course probably closer to 12K, and extremely hilly.

This doesn't look like a "meet". It's more like ordinary pupils without any athletic background who are having a day with school on the track to try out different events.

Afraha stadium is one of the best in Kenya. The measurements are right, It is a high altitude area. Nakuru county is not known for running, Most of these kids have not had any form of serious training. These are kids who are asked to represent their schools just for participation purposes.

Jack Daniels' calculator says that this is worth 35:21 at sea level, 5:41/M. So, maybe this is what a completely untrained Kenyan can run in his first competition. Could he break 30 at sea level after three to six months of training?

We should contribute some cash to make that happen so we can see.

One of those labels is traditionally reserved for track races, the other for non-track races.
