Just curious if this is true or not. Are there records of the fastest miles run ages 45-49?

In the world, no way! In america, maybe
Those lists look to be the product of some SERIOUS under-reporting.

I doubt that is correct. My Dad ran a 4:51.2 on the track back in 1982 at age 48.
Nothing was ever thought about it being a record but now I am interested to know where that stands.
Dude, John Trautmann Just ran 4:17 at 46..i doubt sub 5:00 is in the top 15
I'll name you five 45+ year old runners that can run a sub 5 min mile from a small town in upstate NY. There is no way that your 45 year old friend is right.
I'll name you a 60 yr old guy that could do that.
Here are the results from just one race in the 45-49 and 50-54 - the 2013 5th ave mile:

PS interesting to note that that there is no slowage in teh 50-54 compared to the 45-49
No way
M 60 1500m 4:24.00 Nolan Shaheed USA 61 30.04.11 Norwalk
Does he wear these http://amzn.to/1aGL2VN on account of being so old it doesn't matter?
There are some guys (Magill, Wade, etc.) in that age group who can run 3 consecutive sub-5:00 miles.
The level of competition really drops off at 45. Plus fewer are interested in competing at the mile or 1500. A runner like Shaheed is an extreme example of a 60 yr old runner in the US.
These guys can run 3 consecutive miles below 5 min pace. Top times ever run in the world by 45-49. So assuming there are many more that can run a mile under 5 at that age
5 is more like WR 10k pace at that age

Please do. Names, birthdates / ages, and results would be useful.

It only includes times uploaded by race directors or submitted by the runners themselves. Most race directors do not upload them.
If I'm a top AG 100m sprinter in the US, there's something seriously wrong with American masters running.
15:37 for 5,000m is about 5:00 a mile pace
Well considering there are 40 yr old guys breaking 4 minutes in the mile, I doubt a sub 5 would be top 15 for 45-59 yr olds, but a sub 5 would still be very impressive and I don't think you should crush his dreams.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Guys between age of 45 and 55 do you think about death or does it seem far away
