Alright, so this post is more an opportunity to vent than anything else. I'm 5.5 years with this injury now and had surgery almost 8 weeks ago with Dr. OH in Toronto (I posted awhile ago recommending him, which I still do, but ...). In the beginning it was only running that hurt and I was definitely feeling down about that, but if I'd known how much worse it could be, I would probably have just cut my losses and gotten into cycling or yoga or something. Because now all I'm really hoping for is (1) to be able to walk pain free, (2) to be able to bear children (I'm not talking natural childbirth here, just knowing that I could be pregnant and not in excruciating pain), and (3) maybe, just maybe, have a close to normal range of motion and strength level so that I could do some basic strength training, pilates, yoga, etc. Instead, at the moment I'm not even really up to normal daily activities (e.g. lifting laundry, going up stairs and walking at a normal pace).
Like I said, I'm at week 8 here, and things have been going very slowly, but fine ... my strength is abysmal (had a torn ligament and "shredded" abdominal wall and conjoint tendon repaired, plus adductor release, after 9 months of wearing a hernia truss just to be able to sit at my desk etc.), but physio only started a week and a half ago, so that's not unexpected. This morning, though, on my way to work I started to notice some pain around my hip bone and a little bit of a "something's loose" feeling. Could be making this up, as my experience to date has made me somewhat paranoid.
If anyone could share any reassuring experiences with setbacks, rehab, etc., I would be most appreciative.
