It was completely her fault, I agree with this and I am glad he did it because she will learn from her mistake. Trust me. As for getting hurt, come on, it was probably more of a shock, tired women will cry if something dramatic happens to them.
I am not saying hitting women is okay, but here it was clearly her fault, it doesn't matter if that guy was sprinting to win or finish last. You can wave at the crowd, but stay in your lane.
How do you know it was "completely her fault?" The photo evidence does not suggest that.
Never run a tri and don't really understand the circumstances. She's got several miles to go and he's finishing? Looking at the second pic--is there a reason he couldn't have moved to his left simply to avoid her?
Blair is and always has been a huge douche
Videos?
Why was she turning to wave at kids in the middle of a race? She was clearly obstructing a competitor. While I don't agtree with his choice to hit her I do understand his frustration. If she didn't want to race she shouldn't have been out there getting in the way of those that did want to race. She can go on her hobby job in her neighborhood at home.
dude that guy is a douche...it's never right to hit someone during a competition. It's really un-sportsmanlike and immature.
It looks to me like he just ran into her.
Did he hit her or is he pushing her out of the way?

Tell that to Floyd Money Mayweather, 123 million in the bank!
She was heading in the "other direction" to the finish line? I've never done a triathlon so maybe that's why I don't understand this:
"He was running hard toward the finish line as Alison was headed in the other direction. Alison turned to wave to her cheering kids and got in his way"
She was in the wrong. He shouldn't have hit her but it looks like he pushed her out of the way more than punching her.
If someone was standing in the finishing straight at a race I probably would've pushed them out of the way as well. It's a race. If you don't want to race, don't do it.
Triathletes are wimps/fairies.
I thought we all learned that celebrating and waving are normal and preferred behavior while doing tris. Even if you are the winner and finishing the race, you shouldn't be passed while they are high fiving their fans. That is bad form. She was doing what you are supposed to do at Tri events.
This douche should be called out by name as someone who hits women.
Blair Cullen of Ossining, NY hits women.

I honestly agree but that's not why 95% of people enter races.
Not going to try to sort out who was right/wrong but those pictures are hilarious.
her unawarness of being in the way reminds me of that video of the long jumper running into that dumb blonde chick.
i would never have hit or made contact with her, but i would have cussed at her for sure. very loudly.
Maybe he thought he was still in the swim leg, where punching, scratching, and kicking is allowed. I don;t care what the circumstances were, he could have avoided the incident, as we all know from track, by changing his line over the course of a few steps. He has a 2 lane road to do that, so no excuses.
In in other news, she has an outie belly button.
You guys understand tris go off in waves, right? So people are coming and going on the course and the transitions get congested. If some over-aggressive douche can't see that a mom is waving at her kids and pushes her, it's sad. I've seen people sprinting out of T1 in their bike shoes (not a controlled event) screaming at people to get out of the way. Well dude, learn to swim better or forever be behind faster swimmers. And if you chicks can't get over the fact that these competitions aren't life and death for everyone, whatever. Some people just want to have fun. And their having fun is helping fund the sport.
