The fully loaded water belts with 5 or 6 bottles in a race that has a drinks station every 5km. Seriously, you can't go 5km without a drink ? Possibly special diet issues, but there's seems to be a hell of a lot of sensitive stomachs out there.

A hobby jogger's coach encouraging them at every turn or, worse yet, running with them.
Dang this board spends a lot of energy obsessing about what hobby joggers do or wear.

Doesn't anyone get thirsty? How do you run for more than 90 minutes without water? I have both a water belt and a hydration pack!
You don't need that much water unless you are going over 90 mins. In fact, there is some evidence showing that the body needs to get used to lack of water (if you are a racer).
Back in the day, none of us took any water on our 90+ min runs. Most college teams now get someone giving them water at the half way mark of (1.5 - 2 hr) runs, but that is it.
You don't need belts of water and to be constantly drinking. Drink a bunch of water before you start.

+1
We've all seen this and laughed at the absurdity of it.
By far I would say wearing knee braces and minimalist shoes. What a joke. If you have to wear knee braces then just wear traditional shoes and maybe cut the mileage a bit (probabaly though if you arehobby jogger though you are only doing 10 mpw).
those damn stickers on the back of cars that say 13.1 or 26.2 or any other number!
What's funniest about people who complain that hobby joggers use equipment/gear from companies that sponsor elites is that the complainers don't realize that those companies are sponsoring elites to get its name out so the hobby jogger buys said gear.
Let's take this a step further with annoying trend of awarding finishers' medals in 5K runs. Come on, it's ONLY a 5K, 5,000 meters. It's like giving a gold star to the kid for trying even when he gets an F on a paper in school. Races are jacking up entry fees just so they can hand out finishers' medals.
Has anyone said the token 26.2 tattoo?
Fanny Pack
The stroller. I was at a contemporary art showing today, and someone brought their screaming children. How can some people not see how inappropriate it is to take children most places?
The thing that bothers me the most is the looks that you get from hobby joggers. It is unsettling, but I guess as much as they judge me in those looks we multiply that exponentially in threads like this. So I guess I should just grin and bear it.

Agreed. I ran 72 minutes today in 80+ degree heat on a hilly loop (did the loop twice and the minute loop to add an extra mile). Didn't drink until I got back to my flat.
Definitely the most annoying "accessory" of hobby-jogger's is all that extra fat they are carrying around just in case the zombie apocolypse hits and they can't eat for 40 days.
The 26.2 stickers don't bother me (except the folks that put one on for each marathon they've run -- I've seen cars with 8 26.2 ovals), but anything less is annoying.
They even make a 5K one:

And how does that annoy you?
I was about to ask how this went 8 pages without "fanny packs" being mentioned.
I hate when hobby joggers run. They should stay him and not have any goals. Running Is only for elite runners like letsrun posters.
There's not necessarily a hobby-jogger accessory that I don't like, but two forms of hobby jogger behavior do.
I don't like when hobby-joggers ask you about your running, and then act like you're crazy for running as much and as fast as you do, or act like you're a different species or something. Then, they turn around and get mad if a more serious runner acts like their running is different. Also, these are the people who make fun of you for taking it as seriously as you do, then cop an attitude towards people who don't run at all.
I also don't like when hobby-joggers ask you for advice, then get mad at your answer. I work part time at a running store, and hobby-joggers will come in with their internet review expertise looking for me to confirm their fad theories. When I don't agree with them, or qualify my agreement with them, they get really, really huffy. Or if they ask for training advice and then try to figure out the shortcut around what I said. We had a marathon training group and in the anonymous feedback questionnaire at the end of the program, one of the comments was "the coaches didn't do a good job of explaining how to prioritize the runs, so I didn't know what to cut out from the program if I was busy. They wanted us to be running 5-6 days per week, and that's just not realistic for me."
If running 5-6 days per week is not realistic for you, then improving at the marathon or completing one with minimal damage to your body is not realistic for you.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
