Ric Sayre, Ashland resident, one of only two American males to qualify for five Olympic Trials in the marathon, passed away this morning. Ric was 57, and looked at least 10 years younger, still in racing trim. He went for a run this morning, was talking to some neighbors afterward, and without warning, keeled over, dead.
Ric was a fixture at the Ashland Food Cooperative, where he was employee representative on the Board of Directors. He was as nice a person you could ever meet, and as humble as the summer solstice day is long.

I remember him blowing past me during Hood to Coast one year in the early nineties. Hell of a runner.
