There's a reason I put the word redemption inside quotes. You are absolutely right. There is nothing he can do to undo the cheating that he's guilty of. He could still sway some opinions of his core character by coming clean, confessing and explaining how he cheated, followed by a commitment to clean up his act and to become transparent in his future racing endeavors (bib visible, start at the front, hit all mats, post Garmin history, etc.). Posting some slower but honest and earned 3:20's would actually improve his situation from my point of view.
But my guess is this isn't going to happen. Instead, when he gets himself into something close to 3:00 shape, he'll race to "redeem" himself. And if he posts a sub 3:00 or something close to it (accompanied by a valid sounding excuse) all the Kipettes will complain about what a bunch of unfair a holes all of us here are.
