What's been the slowest, most "tactical" race you've ever seen, in terms of athletes running way below their abilities for the first part of the race? I seem to recall that the first 5k of the NCAA D1 10k was run around 16:30 one year . . . that's pretty absurd. Anyone witnessed, or been involved in, an even more "tactical" race? Have things ever gotten so slow that the athletes literally stopped altogether?
